No practice tonight, details for game/break
by posted 04/15/2021

Good afternoon, a few updates:

1) No practice tonight due to the cold weather and potential for rain--our goal is for the girls to have fun and keep coming back and tonight probably would not be much fun.

2) Game Sunday -- please arrive at 10:55, game is home on the same field we practice on (11:15 start).  Coaches Labella and Exposito will be there to lead the girls.  Please let us know ASAP if you are not able to make it (beyond Arshia / Harper / Caroline).

3) Next week -- we will not have practice during break.  It would be great for the girls to try to get out and work on their ground balls and cradling.  And, if they have access to a brick wall, they could work on their throwing/catching as well.

4) Positions -- we were going to use tonight's practice to scrimmage (similar to what we did during the 2nd half of Tuesday's practice) with a focus on getting the newer girls up to speed at playing middie.   As you can imagine, we had very mixed results given that this was their first time.  We will try to get the girls to try it in the game Sunday, but in order to set them up for success it might take a bit more time on the practice field to really get them feeling comfortable/confident.

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions.

Game recap/week ahead
by posted 04/11/2021

Good evening,

The coaches are so proud of how the girls played today.  It was so fun to watch, especially with 9 of 14 girls having never played in a game and playing against a team which appeared to have a lot more experience.  I wanted to touch on  a few topics:

1)  Next week -- please let me know if you are not able to make our game next week with it being vacation week

2)  Positions -- every girl will play every position this year.  At this level and with the lack of game experience I thought it was important to have the girls play just one position today to get used to the game speed and flow.

3) Ground balls -- girls lacrosse at this age is all about winning ground balls.  The girls have done a great job in practice getting better at this.  Today's game highlighted the importance.  This is something the girls can work on at home as well.  If you need a ball, just have your daughter let me know Tuesday and we can give them a ball to keep.  This will be a key focus of ours throughout the season.

Overall, it was just so fun to be able to play lacrosse again for the 1st time in 2 years and to have it look like lacrosse in the 1st game was even better.

Please let the girls know how proud we are of them and to those who want to play different positions they definitely will next week.

Never hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Good morning,  We are very excited for our first game this Sunday, 10AM, @Walpole, Route 1A Turf Field 1B, 2400 Main Street.  Please try to arrive by 9:40 so we can get warmed up and organized.  Sticks/goggles/mouth guard/uniform are all a must for games.

Tonight we will only practice for 45 minutes with the last 15 left to watch the 5/6 teams scrimmage.  We thought this would be valuable, especially for those who have never seen/played in a lacrosse game.

We need a goalie -- the plan is to have many girls try goalie this year.  Who wants to play goalie Sunday?  We will bring the equipment tonight and get them coached up.  For safety reasons we will have 1 girl play the entire game.

The girls are all doing great!  It is so fun to watch them continue to get better at lacrosse.  It is an awesome sport especiallly once it starts looking like lacrosse.  We are not there yet but are inching in that direction.

Looking forward to tonight and Sunday!
